Introducing the Display Pages

From storefront ads to electronic billboards, display advertising is everywhere. The Family History Guide Association has introduced a bit of a do-it-yourself approach with its new Display Pages. These are 8.5 x 11 PDF files that can be printed or used electronically to share The Family History Guide with others. You can use the link above to access the pages, or get there via the Media Home page.

First we’ll take a look at the categories of Display Pages and how they are organized, and then we’ll offer a few ideas on how and where you can use them.

Web Page and Collections

Here’s a look at part of the web page for the Display Pages:

Each link above opens a corresponding PDF collection, with individual pages that can be downloaded or printed. There is also a Table of Contents in each collection to help you find pages faster. Here are some notes about each collection:

  • Main Display—Contains pages designed for general awareness of The Family History Guide, including Introduction, About, Home Page, Get Started, Sample Projects, Activities, Research, Tracker, Social Media, etc.
  • Country Pages—Highlights some of the most frequently used Country pages in The Family History Guide, listing the URLs, Goals and special features of each.
  • More Pages—Contains additional pages that can be swapped into the Main Display as desired.
  • For Latter-day Saints—Contains pages for the Come, Follow Me Companion, Leadership, Temple & Family History Consultants, etc.

As explained on the website, you may download and print any of the Display Pages, but you may not post the PDF files online or otherwise distribute them electronically. Each person using the materials should download them directly from the website.

Additional Resources

Just below the collections pictures you’ll see this link:

Table-top Foldable Sheet: Pass-along Card Theme

This is a full-size sheet designed to be printed on heavier stock and folded over. Half the sheet is upside-down so both sides show properly when folded. This makes a great table-top display for the pass-along cards.

And down a bit farther on the page you’ll see this link:

More Country and Region Display Pages

When clicked, this opens a list of over 40 display pages for additional countries and regions in The Family History Guide. These can be swapped in to the Country Pages collection as desired.

How to Use the Display Pages

Here are a few ideas for using the Display Pages to share awareness of The Family History Guide:

  • Insert printed sheets into sheet protectors and use in a binder. You can mix and match sheets from the collections to come up with a custom set to fit your needs.
  • Display custom binders in libraries, church meetinghouses, schools, senior centers, etc.
  • Use the binders and individual sheets as part of display setups at family history fairs or other events.
  • Print and hang selected display sheets in buildings or venues (with permission) to raise awareness of The Family History Guide or to promote events. (Note that The Family History Guide is approved by FamilySearch as a training resource.)
  • Display a collection or custom set of PDFs digitally.

There are many more possibilities, of course, for using the Display Pages. See what you can come up with!
