New: Database Reference Page

There are quite a few links to helpful articles and videos in The Family History Guide, covering a wide variety of topics. What should not be overlooked is that there are also links to many free databases for records of all types. To highlight these resources, we’ve created a new page: the Database Reference.

About the Database Reference

You can access the Database Reference from any of the Partner menus (FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage, or Findmypast), below Project 4. This is a work in progress: many more entries will be added in the future.

Below is a sample screenshot of part of the Database Reference page. The link to the database is listed first, followed by “More,” which opens a description of the database. In this example, only the Austria GenWeb “More” link is open to show the database description; on the actual page you can click any link to open the database or its description.

The “Global”  category is for databases that span multiple regions. After that, the categories are listed alphabetically, with a mix of regions and individual countries, depending on the scope of records in the databases.

We hope you enjoy learning about databases linked from The Family History Guide, in the new Database Reference page!
