Getting Started with Genealogy

The Family History Guide has some great resources for getting started with family history and genealogy. Here are a few of the features on the website that are designed to help you successfully embark on your family history journey:

  • Get Started page—This page helps you identify which aspect(s) of family history speaks to you, and where you might want to get started, whether with memories (such as photos and documents), activities, research, etc. Then it provides links to places in The Family History Guide where you can learn about what you have chosen.
  • Beginner’s Track—This is a limited version of the website, geared to those just beginning family history who want to select from fewer choices.
  • Computer Basics—If you need to review basic computer skills for PC or Mac, the Computer Basics section can be very helpful.
  • Partner Menus—Learning FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage, or Findmypast has never been easier. Check out the step-by-step instructions and resources in the Partner menus.
