The Family History Guide Fundraiser Continues
Dear Friends of The Family History Guide,
We are continuing our fundraiser for the next few weeks!
FaceBook and PayPal made a generous offer to match donations made to nonprofit charity organizations like The Family History Guide, last Tuesday, November 27th on #Giving Tuesday! Thank you for all the generous contributions, for thinking of us, and for being loyal users. Thank you for spreading the word about the benefits of The Family History Guide, and for sharing your enthusiasm for our site! As you may know, the Family History Guide Association consists of dedicated volunteers who receive no monetary reimbursement for our work. We love what we do and hope to keep our site free to people worldwide. The generosity of people like you makes it possible for us to accomplish that goal. Thank you to all who donate and support this worthy cause – you are appreciated! You can make a donation on facebook here. You can also donate using the button on The Family History Guide home page.
Donations to our organization are used for projects in the following categories:
Certified Trainer Program Certified Trainers are volunteers who have successfully completed our certification process. These volunteers teach and spread the use of The Family History Guide in their local areas. We currently have over fifty volunteers worldwide who provide their expertise to their local geographic areas in the form of training, presentations and other support to people who want to get started in family history. These Certified Trainers are on four continents including North America, Europe, Africa, and Australia.
Rootstech Each year we reach thousands of people by providing demonstrations and mini-classes in our 600 sq.ft. booth at this show. Our main presentation last year attracted a standing room only audience of over 800 people. We have already been accepted to do another main presentation and booth for RootsTech 2019.
The Family History Guide website Step-by-step focused training is the hallmark of The Family History Guide. This is unique to the family history/genealogy industry. We have collected the best resources available throughout the world and combined them into a best-in-class training program for everyone from beginners to seasoned genealogists.
Outreach Program This program will include taking The Family History Guide directly to the users through regional, geographically focused training and family history events. Also, we plan to expand our presence at genealogy/family history events and conferences around the US and other parts of the world including the newly announced RootsTech London event.
Social Media This year we have produced and released over twenty new videos highlighting specific areas of The Family History Guide. In addition, we have a major social media presence on three Facebook sites, our own YouTube channel, Twitter, Pinterest, and our blog with hundreds subscribed.
