Inspiring Family History
The mission statement for The Family History Guide is on the Home page, just below the main picture:
“Our mission is to greatly increase the number of people actively involved in family history worldwide, and to make everyone’s family history journey easier, more efficient, and more enjoyable.”
Part of that mission involves inspiring others to get started with their family history. We make it easier for people to learn FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage, and Findmypast, and to do many other family history-related tasks.
There are many ways to inspire others, and ourselves, to become actively involved in family history, so in this article we highlight the efforts of an especially interesting website dedicated to this cause: InspireFamilyHistory.com
The Inspire Family Website
InspireFamilyHistory.com, although not part of The Family History Guide, has similar goals in getting people involved in family history. It’s nicely designed and has helpful information in a number of categories. Let’s take a look at some of the features of the website:
- Home Page – You can see the mission statement, get a brief summary of “Get Inspired,” and use links to access other parts of the website (About, Inspire Others, Ideas, Blog, Articles, and Contact).
- About – This profiles the two managers of the website, Shenley Puterbaugh and Olivia Jewell.
- Inspire Others – Contains tips for working with children’s ages, interests, and learning styles.
- Ideas – Categories for family history activities, such as pictures, travel, personal history and more.
- Blog – Recent blog posts by the team.
- Articles – These are links to online articles by industry leaders on topics related to involvement in family history.
- Contact – How to contact the team.
The articles and blog posts are well written and selected, and the overall experience from the website does inspire a sense of curiosity about, and connection with, family history as a way to unite generations.
We hope you’ll take the time to visit InspireFamilyHistory.com and share the link with others. It’s a terrific site for understanding the importance of family history involvement, especially for the rising generation.
