New Resource Page for Latter-day Saint Leaders

If you are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and use The Family History Guide, you are probably familiar with the Faiths menu, which has a wide variety of family history resources for Latter-day Saints (and pages for Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish research as well). We recently added a new Leadership item to the menu. This is designed for those serving in leadership positions in The Church of Jesus Christ who want to use The Family History Guide to help with family history efforts in wards or stakes.

Note: The content in the Leadership section is created by The Family History Guide Association and is not endorsed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The content does not replace or supersede any official Church materials or policies; it is rather a supplement to facilitate and accelerate family history learning and involvement in Church settings.  The content may not be re-posted on other websites.

Let’s take a look at the materials offered in the new Leadership section.

Leadership Training

This section contains a PowerPoint slide deck that can be downloaded and used for training. It shows ward and stake leaders how The Family History Guide can help them increase family history participation and enjoyment in their organizations (Elder’s Quorum, Relief Society, Young Men and Young Women, Primary, Ward Mission, etc.).

Come, Follow Me Family History Companion

The slide deck in this section explains the family history Companion for Come, Follow Me, on The Family History Guide website. The slides can be used in a lesson or fireside to introduce the Companion, or to raise awareness about how the Companion can add a family history perspective to home-centered gospel study.

Temple and Family History Consultants

The slide deck in this section provides training for using The Family History Guide to help Consultants accelerate their learning and master family history skills. This enables them to help more people, more effectively.

Missionaries

This section has links to two PDF documents for Ward Mission Leaders and missionaries, explaining how The Family History Guide can help them find and teach through family history activities.

Statistics and Reports

The Family History Guide provides helpful statistics on learning progress, through the Online Tracker. Individuals can track their own learning progress, and any organization can track learning progress of their voluntary group members with statistical reports. For example, an individual can see how many Goals he or she has accomplished, and an Elder’s Quorum or Relief Society leader can see similar information for their organizations.
