Preview: RootsTech Connect and The Family History Guide
RootsTech Connect 2021 is almost here … just a few more days, and the excitement is already building! The virtual doors open to the world at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24. Why at 5 p.m.? Because that will actually be 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25 in New Zealand, for example.
Speaking of time zones and the worldwide audience, we’ve heard that over 315,000 people have now registered for RootsTech Connect, from over 220 countries—and that number is likely to rise by the start of the conference. Due to the huge international participation, we have made foreign-language versions of a number of our videos and added subtitles in different languages for our videos on YouTube.
Online Booth
As mentioned before, we have an online booth at RootsTech Connect. Unlike previous years in the Salt Palace, where you needed a map to find us, we are pretty easy to spot in the Expo Hall page: we are in the Societies and Sponsors section, in the middle of the page.
Here are some of the highlights of our online booth that you won’t want to miss:
- Promos: Check out offers on pass-along cards, Marketplace items, etc.
- Discover More: Watch a series of videos that get you started with research topics.
- Downloadable Resources: Get your own copy of handy media items from the website.
- Chat: Ask our expert team questions about The Family History Guide in real time, via direct message or chat room.
Classes
We are also offering four video classes that you can find in the Class Schedule:
- Introduction to The Family History Guide—see a new walk-through of the website and its features, professionally narrated.
- Family History Activities—watch real-life experiences of the impact of family history activities on families, individuals, youth, and kids.
- Research with The Family History Guide—learn how to unlock your family history research skills with amazing, easy-to-use resources.
- Training with The Family History Guide—discover how you can prepare and deliver classes on almost any family history topic, using The Family History Guide website.
News and Notes
There’s a great article in the Deseret News that highlights the background of RootsTech and how the transition was made to a global, online event. You can read it here:
Youth and young adults attending RootsTech Connect online will have a new opportunity with the Quest for Connection experience (click the title below):
We hope you enjoy RootsTech Connect 2021! It’s not too late to register if you haven’t done so already—and it’s free! Be sure to pass the word along to friends and family, and stop by our online booth. We’d love to chat with you!
