Re-opening of the Family History Library
After a lengthy closure due to the COVID pandemic—which allowed some time for a major remodeling project—the Family History Library in Salt Lake City will open its doors to the public on Tuesday, July 6. Here are a few of the highlights, according to the Deseret News:
- Building remodel. The building was last remodeled in 2002, and changes were needed to keep up with the latest earthquake regulations.
- Equipment update. Technology for the building has been updated to provide for a better visitor experience.
- Additional lighting. Each floor will have improved lighting for research and study.
- Free photocopies. Previously they were 5 cents each; now they are free.
- New break room. The main floor will feature a new break room for groups of up to 75 people. It will be open to all guests and is available for reservations.
