What’s New in The Family History Guide

Here’s a brief review of some of the latest updates to The Family History Guide website. Some of them have been mentioned in previous blog posts, so the links to those articles are also included.

Get Started

We’ve changed the focus of the Get Started page. It was previously a group of alternatives to choose from; now it’s driven by questions and answers. There are over 300 links for basic questions about family history that lead to answers in The Family History Guide. The questions are organized in 13 categories for easy access.

More Countries

We’ve added “More Countries” Goals (collector pages) for Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Central America, Europe, Pacific Islands, and South America. These pages contain Choices for countries that do not have enough information to support a full page of their own. The collector pages can be access in the Countries menu.

The More Countries section of the Countries page has also changed. Instead of containing links to resources for all the additional countries, it now simply provides links to the country collector pages that have the resource links. Also, separate country pages were added for the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, and Northern Ireland, all of which can be accessed in the British Isles section of the Countries menu.
