From Come, Follow Me:
After abridging the record of his people, Mormon gave his concluding message in Mormon 7. Why do you think he chose this message? What does it mean to you to “lay hold upon the gospel of Christ”? (Mormon 7:8).
Read and study "The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles.”
You may want to audio or video record your own family taking turns reading each paragraph of it. Preserve your audio recording on FamilySearch Memories.
Print copies here.
Preserve your personal testimony of Jesus Christ to strengthen it, and to influence generations to come. You could verbally express or read your testimony as an audio message on FamilySearch using the Memories Audio App, or "Record My Story" on FamilySearch Discovery, or from FamilySearch memories on your computer (see this link).
“Redeeming Light” by Annie Henrie Nader (used with permission)
You may want to help young children write what they feel. Consider scanning or taking a photo of hand-written testimonies to preserve. You can also type directly into a document and preserve it. See instructions in The Family History Guide here.
You could also record these in a personal journal, or a family journal. Ask children and grandchildren to record your words to hear you share what means the most to you.
Sharing will leave no question about what you know and love. What a blessing for generations to come to hear your voice sharing the message you want them to remember! Read more here.
Read or retell your ancestors' stories. Preserve them at the same time using Memories Audio App, or the "Record My Story" feature on FamilySearch Discovery.
Find stories in FamilySearch Memories or on your fan chart, and share them. Check out the All The Stories site to see a searchable list of all the stories anyone has placed on your branch of the FamilySearch tree. Check out 10 Ways to Find Ancestor's Stories.
For those without many (or any) stories in your branch of an online family tree, an idea is to find church history stories that coincide with the timeline of your ancestors’ lives to read and record. When you record any story, you have created a family history moment--you have shared something dear to you. Your posterity and other loved ones will know that you cherished what you recorded.
You can Create an album on FamilySearch for each surname and other categories such as Adventure stories, Conversion Stories, etc.
Create a collection of the stories of the first converts in your family lines. You might enjoy creating a booklet of these. This would make a great gift for missionaries and others!
Mormon 7:8–10; 8:12–16; 9:31–37
From Come, Follow Me:
President Russell M. Nelson asked: “If you were offered diamonds or rubies or the Book of Mormon, which would you choose? Honestly, which is of greater worth to you?” The Book of Mormon: What Would Your Life Be Like without It?
What do you find in Mormon 7:8–10; 8:12–22; and 9:31–37 that helps you understand why the Book of Mormon is valuable in our day? Why is it valuable to you?
"Generations are affected by the choices we make. Share your testimony with your family; encourage them to remember how they felt when they recognized the Spirit in their lives and to record those feelings in journals and personal histories so that their own words may, when needed, bring to their remembrance how good the Lord has been to them." Ronald A. Rasband, Lest Thou Forget
President Russell M. Nelson: "As you continue to read daily from the Book of Mormon, you will learn the doctrine of the gathering, truths about Jesus Christ, His Atonement, and the fulness of His gospel not found in the Bible.
The Book of Mormon is central to the gathering of Israel. In fact, if there were no Book of Mormon, the promised gathering of Israel would not occur." Worldwide Youth Devotional

As a family, and as individuals, commit to beginning or continuing daily reading of or listening to the Book of Mormon. It would be fascinating to mark all references to the gathering of Israel as you read.
Record your thoughts and feelings to influence and inspire generations to come. Here are some reading and recording suggestions:
Suggestions for helping children:
Children and youth may especially enjoy this new recording on The Book of Mormon App - but, we think everyone will!
“Nothing opens the heavens quite like the combination of increased purity, exact obedience, earnest seeking, daily feasting on the words of Christ in the Book of Mormon, and regular time committed to temple and family history work.” President Russell M. Nelson, Revelation for the Church, Revelation for Our Lives
I can keep the commandments even when I feel alone.
From Come, Follow Me:
Moroni’s example could inspire your children to obey God’s commandments even when they feel alone.
One of the many blessings outlined by Elder Renlund for involvement in and commitment to temple and family history work is an “Increased love and appreciation for ancestors and living relatives, so we no longer feel alone.” He promises: "If you have prayed for any of these blessings, participate in family history and temple work. As you do so, your prayers will be answered." Dale G. Renlund, Family History and Temple Work: Sealing and Healing
"The Lord so declared: 'I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.' What a promise! When we are faithful, He and His angels will help us." (Russell M. Nelson, April General Conference 2011)
The Lord has revealed that “there are no angels who minister to this earth but those who do belong or have belonged to it.” (D&C 130:5.)
Joseph F. Smith said, "When messengers are sent to minister to the inhabitants of this earth, they are not strangers, but from the ranks of our kindred [and] friends… In like manner, our fathers and mothers, brothers, sisters, and friends who have passed away from this earth, having been faithful, and worthy to enjoy these rights and privileges, may have a mission given them to visit their relatives and friends upon the earth again, bringing from the divine Presence messages of love, of warning, of reproof and instruction to those whom they had learned to love in the flesh." Gospel Doctrine (read more here).
How can you learn more about these loved ones who are cheering you on? Getting to know about their lives can help open the door to receive their influence in your life to help you through troubled times.
