FAQs for Using Sample Outlines for Training

Sample Outlines are provided as a resource to help you develop training courses using The Family History Guide website. They can be downloaded and used as is from the website, or you may modify them to fit your needs. Remember that the purpose is to train from the website, not to promote private or commercial training purposes.

Below is a list of FAQs to help you in your use and modifications of the Sample Outlines.

• Q1: May I re-post the original Sample Outlines?
• A1: No; instead you should point others to The Family History Guide website for the Sample Outlines, to ensure the latest versions are used. You may make copies of the Sample Outlines, original or modified, for class handouts.


• Q2: What modifications are not permitted in the Sample Outline?
• A2: You may not remove The Family History Guide logo or add other logos, with the exception of those referenced in The Family History Guide. For example, you could add logos for Ancestry, BillionGraves, etc. You may not add links to other sites that are not included in The Family History Guide. If you need to reference other links, you can provide them in a separate handout.


• Q3: May I use the Sample Outlines for fee-based or commercial training?
• A3: No, they are only to be used with free classes.


• Q4: May I do remote training using Sample Outlines?
• A4: Yes.


• Q5: What kinds of things may I modify in the Sample Outlines?
• A5: Here is a sample list: a) Change the sequence of items; b) Change the title or the formatting of the page as desired; c) Add your own activities; d) Remove items, or add other items found in The Family History Guide. You can also split a Sample Outline into multiple courses, or combine multiple Outines into a single one.
