Come, Follow Me is a resource offered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is designed to be used in the home to support personal and family scripture study to build faith in Heavenly Father and His plan of salvation and in the Savior Jesus Christ and His Atonement. Come, Follow Me is self-contained and adequate, when used properly. Products and materials designed to supplement this resource, though they may be helpful in some instances, are not necessary for a successful home study program.

John saw many events of earth’s history, especially those of the latter days.
From Come, Follow Me:
As you read, ponder why it is valuable to know what John wrote about the latter days.
"These are your days. You were born in a time of temples and technology. These are your days to more fully turn your hearts to your fathers and bring these saving ordinances to millions within our families. These are your days to prepare for the Second Coming of the Savior." Neil L. Andersen, RootsTech 2015
As members of the Church, we are all responsible to help God gather His children. Here are a few of President Nelson’s specific invitations:
To the brethren:
After some 4,000 years of anticipation and preparation, this is the appointed day when the gospel is to be taken to the kindreds of the earth. This is the time of the promised gathering of Israel. And we get to participate! Isn’t that exciting?
To the sisters:
My dear sisters, we need you! We “need your strength, your conversion, your conviction, your ability to lead, your wisdom, and your voices.”4 We simply cannot gather Israel without you.
To the Millennials:
"Spend more time on your knees in prayer, more time in the scriptures, more time in family history work, more time in the temple. I promise you that as you consistently give the Lord a generous portion of your time, He will multiply the remainder."
To the youth :
"You—my dear, extraordinary youth—were sent to earth at this precise time, this most crucial time in the history of the earth, to help gather Israel ... There is nothing happening on this earth right now that is more important than that. There is nothing of greater consequence. Absolutely nothing. This gathering should mean everything to you. This is the mission for which you were sent to earth."
"Now, participating in the gathering of Israel will require some sacrifice on your part. It may even require some changes in your life. It will definitely take some of your time and energy and your God-given talents. Are you interested?"
"As you pray about this sacrifice of time, you will be guided to know both what you can give up that week and what you can do instead to help gather Israel."
“When we speak of gathering Israel on both sides of the veil, we are referring, of course, to missionary, temple, and family history work. We are also referring to building faith and testimony in the hearts of those with whom we live, work, and serve. Anytime we do anything that helps anyone—on either side of the veil—to make and keep their covenants with God, we are helping to gather Israel.” President Russell M. Nelson, Let God Prevail

Descendancy Research can be an efficient way to find descendants of ancestors (such as distant cousins) who need temple work done. For a detailed look at how cousin relationships work, see Are Your Cousins Removed?

From Come, Follow Me:
The war that started in heaven continues on earth, as Satan persists to “make war with [those who] have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 12:17). What do you learn from Revelation 13 about how he is waging that war today? How do “the blood of the Lamb” and “the word of [your] testimony” (Revelation 12:11) continue to help you in this war?
"Generations are affected by the choices we make. Share your testimony with your family; encourage them to remember how they felt when they recognized the Spirit in their lives and to record those feelings in journals and personal histories so that their own words may, when needed, bring to their remembrance how good the Lord has been to them." (Ronald A. Rasband, Lest Thou Forget, General Conference, Oct. 2016
Hand-write, type, or use the FamilySearch Memories App to record your testimony and testimonies of family members. Save them on FamilySearch. As you also record the testimonies of living loved ones, you preserve their witness to influence generations to come. Another idea is to have a family member read and record an ancestor's written testimony using the audio app.

As a family or group, use the following excerpt from Elder Ahmad S. Corbitt ‘s conference talk for a “round table” discussion about your pre-mortal experiences. Tell each other what qualities you see in one another that verify the “nobel spirits” in whose presence you are sitting. Share your testimonies of the Savior. Discuss how doing temple and family history work can help you overcome Satan’s temptations.
“What about the enormous power within you? Think of this: you shouted for joy9 to come to a fallen world where all would face physical and spiritual death. We would never be able to overcome either on our own. We would suffer from not only our own sins but others’ sins too. Humanity would experience virtually every imaginable type of brokenness and disappointment10—all with a veil of forgetfulness over our minds and the world’s worst enemy continuing to target and tempt us. All hope for returning resurrected and clean to God’s holy presence rested entirely upon one Being keeping His promise.11
What empowered you to go forward? President Henry B. Eyring taught, “It took faith in Jesus Christ to sustain the plan of happiness and Jesus Christ’s place in it when you knew so little of the challenges that you would face in mortality.”12 When Jesus Christ promised He would come into mortality and give His life to gather13 and save us, you did not simply believe Him. You “noble spirits”14 had such “exceedingly great faith” that you saw His promise as sure.15 He could not lie, so you saw Him as if He had already shed His blood for you, long before He was born.16
In John’s symbolic words, you “overcame [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb.”17 President Dallin H. Oaks taught that in that world “[you] saw the end from the beginning.” Ahmad S. Corbitt You Can Gather Israel!
