Goal 4: Use other resources to search for ancestors who need ordinance work done.

There are other websites and browser extensions that may be helpful in identifying more ordinances for ancestors.
Note—Always be sure to verify the ordinances that are identified. Some may be for duplicate ancestors or spouses who are not part of your direct line, or some ancestors may have data problems that need to be resolved.

Choices


A Use the Ordinances Ready feature in the FamilySearch Family Tree app to get a list of possible ordinances for your ancestors.


  1. This feature searches Family Tree, reservation lists, and shared lists. For more information on finding temple names with the Ordinances Ready feature, read this blog article.

B Use Family Ordinance Opportunities from FamilySearch.

  1. Go to Family Ordinance Opportunities (log in to FamilySearch if needed). A 7-generation fan chart is displayed with numbers of available ordinances shown in green circles.
  2. Click a green circle to open a Family Details window with information on ordinances that may be reserved.
  3. To see ordinance details, hover over the icons.
  4. To request an ordinance, click Request. To view details for an orange icon (needs info) click View Details. This opens additional family names with more ordinance opportunities.
  5. To see family details, click the blue node icon for the name.
  6. To filter the ordinance list, click the Filter button (upper left) and select an option (the default is "Ready and needs more information - All ordinances").

  7. Note : Be sure to check names for possible duplicates in FamilySearch before reserving. For more details on temple icons and ordinance reservations, see the other Goals in this Project.


C Use Puzzilla or Virtual Pedigree to get a list of possible ordinances.
