A Work with places in PedigreeMap.

Summary
  1. In a person's Profile, on the left side, click View in PedigreeMap (or, you can click More in the Family Tree menu and select Pedigree Map). A list populates in the left panel of the screen, with the number of ancestor events in your tree for each country indicated. A world map is displayed on the right. (If you have a large tree, the first load may take a while.) A green bar indicates the progress of loading the locations onto the map. There is a limit of 2,000 locations displayed.
  2. Click a country in the left panel to open a list of ancestor locations in that country.

  3. Click a location in the left panel (orange circle) to display it in the map in the center panel, and show ancestor events for the location in the right panel. An alert icon next to a place name indicates there are multiple locations for the same place name; you can select the one you want in the right panel. (Unknown countries and places not found on the map, if any, are included at the bottom of the list.)
  4. To learn more about a location in the right panel, click the Info icon next to its name. (Click the resulting arrow to restore the panel.)
  5. If you want to hide the left or right panel to allow more room for viewing the map, click the X at the top of either panel. (Click the resulting arrow to restore the panel.)
  6. To sort and group the Places list, click the arrows next to the "Find a place" box. The following combinations can be used:
    • Sort by Count, Group by Countries—(Default) Lists countries by their numbers of ancestor events, in descending order. Locations are grouped within each country.
    • Sort by Count, Group by Flat List—Locations are placed in a single list (not grouped by country), sorted by count from high to low.
    • Sort by Name, Group by Countries—Lists countries by their names, in alphabetical order. Locations are grouped within each country.
    • Sort by Name, Group by Flat List—Locations are placed in a single list (not grouped by country), sorted alphabetically by location name.
  7. To search for a location, click the "Find a place" box, type the name of the location, and click the entry that appears in the left panel. To clear the search results and return to the full list of locations, click the X in the "Find a place" box.
